Dating to the 16th century, The Globe was built by Shakespeare's company of Lord Chamberlain's men and relocated several times due to leasing and flooding issues. The current amphitheater lies only 230 meters from the original site and opened to the public in 1997. This modern replica was carefully built in the image of the original and stages plays in the summer, usually between May and the first week of October. Tours are available all year round.
