Built in 1688, the Gendarmenmarkt is an architectural treasure, a square flanked by the Konzerthaus (concert hall) and the French and German Churches. In the center, a state of poet Friedrich Schiller. In the summer, it hosts an open air classical music concert series, and in the winter, it is filled with Berlin's most popular Christmas Markets.
