A large plaza paved to look like a vinyl record, the Beatles-Platz at Reeperbahn and Große Freiheit has five life-size steel silhouettes, lit at night, commemorating the early 1960s when the then-unknown Beatles played in clubs around Reeperbahn. Installed in 2006, it shows Paul, John, George, a hybrid of Ringo and Pete Best (the original drummer Ringo replaced in Hamburg) and "the fifth Beatle" Stuart Sutcliff, who left the band to study art in Hamburg.
