A remote hiking trail, Long Point takes about three hours to complete, moving from rocky promontories through soft sand beaches, and ending at a historic lighthouse marking the southwest edge of Provincetown Harbor. Popular with photographers, the view from any direction is stunning, and eagle-eyed visitors should be able to spot whales and seals in the Atlantic. The original lighthouse was built in 1827 and is a classic example of the New England style, built of white painted brick capped by a black observation deck. Comfortable waterproof shoes are recommended, but the trail is generally safe for children and able-bodied adults. Note that the lighthouse is not open to visitors.
