A square built in the early 19th century by Klenze, the same architect of the Alte Pinakothek, Odeonsplatz serves as a central hub of foot traffic bordered by the forecourt of the Residenz, the Feldherrnhalle and the Theatinerkircher. It's also the site of the gun battle which ended the infamous Beer Hall Putsch of 1923 and serves as the beginning the Leopoldstraße, also conceived by Klenze upon Ludwig I's request.
