A three-star property on the West End, the Sylvia Hotel has a quaint countryside atmosphere and overlooks English Bay. The WiFi can be spotty, and the furnishings are a bit worn, but it has charm in spades, and the staff is courteous and efficient. Rooms are large with big, comfortable beds, some with kitchens and sleeper sofas. Although there is no air-conditioning, large windows open easily to let in the cool ocean breezes. Dogs are welcome at no additional cost.
